A major conversion of offices into housing in the Greater Paris residential area
On the edge of Paris, in the Hauts de Seine department, Rueil-Malmaison has the charm of a provincial town just a stone’s throw from La Défense. Its lifestyle around the Château de la Malmaison and its accessibility make it a highly sought-after town. The renovation of a building previously occupied by Suez in the centre of the town will further enhance its appeal.
Rehabilitating and desartificialising
The guiding principle of the project is to create more housing with less floor space and to offer green spaces and shops.
With a view to urban recycling, the demolition work is limited to recomposing the facade to create access routes (staircases and lobbies) and private outdoor spaces. The project involves raising the building by one or two storeys, using bio-sourced materials such as wood to create generous green terraces and panoramic rooftops.
This residential development also includes the creation of a 100 m retail space2 and the renovation of the existing auditorium into a public space, a cultural space for creation, meeting and sharing, thus contributing to the liveliness of the ground floor, open to its surroundings.
A sustainable and responsible project
In addition to complying with the new RE2020 regulations, the project is part of a strong environmental approach with a limited carbon impact, in particular through the conservation of a large part of the building and the reuse of ashlar from the existing façade to clad the future building lobbies.
