Covivio’s contribution to the UN sustainable development goals

A signatory to the Global Compact since 2011 and achieving GC Advanced level in 2018, Covivio has applied the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since 2016. Covivio’s long-term CSR goals are consistent with the UN 2030 goals they contribute to, the 10 principles of the Global Compact, and the 2°C trajectory of the December 2015 Paris Agreement.

The 17 UN’s sustainable development goals

So that public and private actors can provide tangible solutions to the main human and environmental challenges, in 2015 the 193 Member States of the United Nations adopted a sustainable development programme entitled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. This comprises 17 sustainable development goals, which in turn consist of 169 targets.

Covivio organizes its strategy around 9 of these objectives

Using several external studies carried out in 2017, which have been regularly updated, Covivio has identified nine key sustainable development goals for its business taking into account its targets. These are described below.

3.9 – By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination

5.5 – Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.

9.1 – Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all.

15.5 – Take urgent and significant action to reduce the degradation of natural habitats, halt the loss of biodiversity and protect and prevent the extinction of threatened species.

Commit to the fight against urban sprawl, the preservation of biodiversity, the emergence of the circular economy, etc., based on an action plan shared at the European level.
